Content Formats
A quick glossary of the video formats we track, with a few saved references for each.
One Shot
A single continuous take with no cuts — relies on blocking, movement, and timing to hold attention for the whole clip.
Talking Head
Direct-to-camera delivery — a person speaking to the lens, usually carrying the message through voice and presence rather than visuals.
10 Shot
A rapid montage built from many short shots cut together — pace and variety do the work instead of any single continuous take.
Carousel
A multi-slide post format — swipeable images or clips grouped under one caption, often used to unpack a single idea across slides.
Vlog
A loosely-structured, first-person diary-style video following someone through a day, event, or process in real time.
Green Screen
A subject shot against a chroma key backdrop, with the background replaced in post — used for quick scene or setting changes.
Split Screen
Two shots shown side by side at once — usually a comparison, a reaction, or two perspectives on the same moment.
Versus
A head-to-head format pitting two options, people, or ideas against each other to drive a clear comparison or debate.
Skit
A short scripted scene with characters and a setup/punchline structure — built for comedic or dramatic effect rather than direct address.
Speakers Address
A formal, direct-to-audience address — think stage talks or keynote-style delivery, usually with minimal cutting.
Voice Over
Narration layered over unrelated or illustrative visuals — the voice carries the story while the footage supports it.
Event Recap
A highlights-style edit compiling moments from a single event into one condensed, fast-paced summary.
